How to use this tool

  1. Prepare period records, sales/purchase invoices and customs documents. Reconcile the period before entering amounts.
  2. Sales: enter VAT-exclusive amounts in the appropriate categories. Standard VAT is 15%; not collecting VAT does not establish zero-rating or exemption.
  3. Purchases: separate domestic, customs-paid and reverse-charge transactions. Enter eligible customs VAT from records; not all VAT paid is necessarily deductible.
  4. Reverse charge: output liability and recovery are both included. Row VAT is deduction minus liability, potentially negative for partial recovery. Do not duplicate a transaction in customs-paid and reverse-charge rows.
  5. Review: current VAT is sales/reverse-charge liability minus eligible input VAT. Add the signed correction and subtract carried credit. Arithmetic does not establish correction eligibility or refund entitlement.
  6. For actual filing, open the official service, select the return/period, review taxpayer details, then sales, purchases and totals. Attach required records and check the summary before accepting and submitting. Dabtt has no filing step.

A few useful answers

Does the interface exactly match the live portal?

We follow the seven-screen structure and tables in the public guide, reviewed on 16 October 2026. We do not access your signed-in portal to verify every update; screens can vary by taxpayer. Identity details are examples, attachments/notes stay local, and finishing is practice only.

Does this cover every case in the official portal?

No. It models the standard 15% form and zero/exempt categories. Legacy 5% transactions and special schemes are unsupported. It does not determine classifications, deduction entitlement or filing deadlines. Portal questions can vary by taxpayer.

How was the calculation checked?

Tests reproduce ZATCA retail, factory and partial-recovery/reverse-charge examples. Row-level halala rounding can differ from sums of rounded invoices, so actual-VAT overrides allow reconciliation.

Are my inputs stored?

No. Calculations and files stay in your browser. Shared tool links contain no entered details.
